MISSION

The WORKS Artist-in-Residence Program is a non-profit, project-based initiative that supports early and mid-career artists by providing access to a large-scale metal fabrication facility at the Powerhouse Arts Building in Brooklyn. Located within the Workspace11 architectural metals workshop, the residency offers artists expert technical support and unique resources to develop their creative projects.

WORKS seeks to foster global collaboration and dialogue by bringing together artists from around the world. The program aims to create a space where creativity can thrive across cultural boundaries, promoting international exchange and global citizenship.

As the cost of living in New York City rises, access to affordable creative space has become increasingly limited. WORKS aims to restore this access, offering a vital platform for artists who might otherwise lack the resources to create and innovate in one of the world’s most dynamic artistic hubs.

PROGRAM

Quarterly residency cycles running for three months at a time, allowing artists ample time to develop and refine their work.

  • Dedicated design space equipped with a computer and industry-standard design software in our second-floor office space.

  • Dedicated studio space and fabrication workstation to continue hands-on creation.

  • Technical expertise and guidance in 3D modeling, fabrication methodologies, and material applications to assist artists in pushing the boundaries of their work.

  • Artist stipend of $3,000 to support their creative practice and material costs.

  • Production of a public event that is centered around the artis ’s practice to allow for connection and exposure.

Our residency is designed to provide artists with the resources, knowledge, and space they need to expand their practice with metalwork while engaging with Brooklyn’s thriving artistic and industrial scene.
